Dear Anon,
As the protusion is a wooden cabinet, and acts like a overhead beam, you can try to use big metal `6 coins' tied together with a red string and stick it below the cabinet (less obstrusive) from view.
However, if the cabinet is made of metal, fire element would be needed.
