Dear Anon,
1. In a past posting on this forum, I had posted some sketches showing some homes around a Cul De Sac need not necessarily; be bad.
2. Often, the Cul De Sac can be tamed with the right angle or position of:-

As described by you.
In addition, it is acceptable to use red front door especially if your main door is under threat.
This is where under the destructive cycle of the Five elements concept: Fire destroys or tame metal. (Metal being the top-view shape of the cul de sac).
