I noticed that recently there are many questions which revolves around these Qn:

So I am compiling this information together to help users facing this problem to understand how to apply feng shui.

A. APPLY GIVE AND TAKE APPROACH

This is really a very common issue that most couples face. However, it isn't really too difficult to resolve. All you need to do is to apply the give and take solution.

ie. The house must be favourable to the Breadwinner. So the breadwinner will gain luck from the house. Then the bedroom should be allocated to the spouse so that she will be able to draw luck from the bedroom.

The most important is to have the breadwinner having a house suitable to him/her. The rest of the family member should just have a bedroom that is suitable for them to stay in. If you follow this rule, it shouldn't be hard apply this concept.

B. DETERMINE HOUSE FACING DIRECTION

1) Remember, that the house facing direction is determined as follows:-

C. APPLY EIGHT HOUSE FOR HUSBAND & WIFE

Firstly, you should confirm your facing direction based on which floor or level you stay in. See above Determine House Facing Direction.

Priority for the house to be suitable to the breadwinner. Then the other person to stay in a suitable bedroom.

1) For the Breadwinner (ie your spouse):-

a) Should have the house in his suitable facing (avoiding Death or Disaster)

b) If the house is not suitable, then at least must sleep in the most suitable bedroom.

c) If both above cannot be achieved, then you can only attempt to improve your luck by making sure you correct all the feng shui leaks in your house and enhance your own ba zi luck:-

2. For all other family members:-

a) The house need not be suitable to them. All they need is to stay in the bedroom sector that is most favourable to them.

Priority from most important to least important:-

a) House suibility to breadwinner

b) Bedroom sector suitable to the person

c) Best placement of bed based on the shape an form placement

d) Sleeping on the side of the bed that is closer to your favourable sector.

e) Bed position is least most important after the above points are taken care off. If at least b), c) and d) are ok, then even if e) is in the worst position, at least it will offset the impact.

D. APPLY EIGHT HOUSE FOR ALL FAMILY MEMBERS

Everyone in the family will have different directions. However, what is important is that you first detemine who is the breadwinner, who is the spouse and the rest of the family.

1. The house must suit the breadwinner. The rest of the family member need not really have to be suitable to the house.

2. The master bedroom for the breadwinner should be given to the breadwinner's spouse if the two person are opposite Gua.

3. The rest of the family just needs to have a suitable bedroom for them to sleep in.

4. Each person should then be able to position their own bedroom according to the best bed position/work position/study position depending on who uses the room.

5. Colours scheme of the room should fit the single/both person using that room. Often two person will have a common element that can help improve the elements.

6. Common rooms like living room, you place furnitures that is in the best shapes and form rather than just to fit or suit any single person. As such rooms are shared between different people.

Dear Advisors and Feng Shui community:

I have been homeless for six months now, living in all directions of the city, sleeping in all directions, living under a wide variety of circumstances.

Shortly after I was forced out of my rental of two years and then never able to live in the next rental that flooded, I read up a lot on feng shui.  I found that the direction I had moved in, in the year I did (2008/2009), was not auspicious.  The books I consulted told me I had to move to a more auspicious direction and stay for at least three months straight (or wait until the new year), before moving in one of the directions I should have originally moved in.

Being homeless, I don't have the luxury of adjusting my lifestyle (even using a computer is a rarity nowadays). 

Since I've lived in all parts of, for the most part, one city, never sleeping in one location for more than two weeks, can you tell me how much longer it will take until my feng shui is settled, or 'reset' again?  I have found a new rental that would be ideal for my personal geomancy, as long as I don't take into account the last six months.  Can I move in there now?

I have always been curious about how feng shui could be applied to those "less fortunate" to create their own living space; I had to experience struggle first-hand to begin to really ponder.  I noticed there is only one mention of homelessness in your forums (on priority given to water-resistant shelter). Considering the current bout of tough times we're all under (unless it's the top 1% of Americans wielding 20% of the wealth are the ones consulting this webpage), so if anyone can address this topic in general, in addition to my specific situation, I think many people would be interested in reading it.

In this case, if the man live in the EAST facing house which is his EXCELLENT direction base on 8 House theory, will the WOOD conflict and destroy his WEAK earth?

4. Thus, today, the Eight House is far more popular and widely applied because of the above reasoning. It is also considered the "gate-way" for those who are looking at the "mysterious" art of Feng Shui. Therefore, psycholically speaking, it is because of the ease of finding out one's 4 good & 4 bad that "personalised" Feng Shui has to thank this concept. I've been browsing through the forums very carefully so that i won't inadvertently ask the same question that's been asked before but i just can't find an explanation to my question...

1. I gather from the response that you've given to most is that the way to harvest the influence of your auspicious direction is to sit FACING these directions meaning if i am a WEST GROUP person i should FACE WEST, SOUTHWEST, NORTHWEST, and NORTHEAST and thusly live in "WEST" houses meaning houses that also face these directions. How is it then that most books i've read and most research that i've done says that you should SIT WITH YOUR BACK POINTING/SPINE IS TOWARDS your auspicious direction and that "WEST" houses also have their BACKS/YIN Side towards the western direction so that they will get support from that direction? why is their such big discrepancies?

2. just for the sake of simple analysis, Let's assume i had a house that comprised of only ONE PERFECTLY SQUARE ROOM. the BACK of this structure is a solid wall and this is on the EAST SIDE. thus the FRONT, where the main door is, FACES WEST. 

if we are to assume that one must sleep with the crown of his head pointing towards his good direction, wouldn't that mean that one had to position his headboard along the same wall as the FRONT DOOR (WEST) in order to tap his auspicious direction? meaning they would not have a clear view of the door when someone enters the room which is a clear violation of the basic and most important tenets of Feng Shui which is that a door should never be anywhere on anyside behind you, not when you are awake or alert and can easily notice people coming up behind you, let alone when you are sleeping! DOESN'T that seem rather counter intuitive?

Lets further assume that we may tilt the bed in order to point the headboard towards the other remaining western direction, 2 (NW,SW) out of the 3 left would still be aligned to/touching the front wall where the front door is. Again very counter intuitive. had there been any reason for the northeast direction to be unuseable that would by default make it impossible to harness good Feng Shui

Lastly let us assume that this same room/structure/house also serves as an office, where does the desk go? if we must aslo situate ourselves in the westernly sectors, had there been any reason for the northeast sector to be deemed unuseable one would have to situate his desk towards either side of  the front sector of the room, assuming the door is smack dab in the center. Guest coming in would then have to sit behind him or besides him so as not to make his back vulnerable?  

I sincerely hope that you can clarify this for me, if not for everyone once and for all. it is soo frustrating. i hope i do not seem skeptical or disrespectful because in all honesty i don't mean to be. i am just soo confused with all the different information that i'm getting and it's hard to tell which is which.

1. For a landed property, it is best to determine which is your home's facing direction:

1.1 Very often, the frontage is accessed via a road parallel to the main entrance. And again, the frontage is often where the living room is located.

1.2 Most homes, again often have say the living room area (with some view thru some windows / sliding panels out of the home) and where usually, the kitchen , backyard or even laundry area behind the home. If so, the frontage should usually be standing say inside the living room looking outwards. (Note: if the main door shares this same wall then, reading can be taken from the main door facing outwards).

1.3 We should try to use the guideline under para 1.2. Thus, if you enter your house via east or via west (side of the house) this should not be counted as the frontage.

2. The most reliable indicator is to applying Flying Star Feng Shui. And in general, for an East group person(s), the better facing directions also have some ranking:-

Ranking 1 - Especially Flying Star Period 8, South 2 (S2) has one of the best qi because it has the excellent double auspicious #8 current prosperity star(s) at it's mouth (frontage).

Ranking 2 - East facing
Ranking 3 - South East facing
Ranking 4 (or Last) - North facing (not very exciting stars -- in many other areas or sectors of the flying star chart).

Thus, even for an East group persion, there is a vast different in "luck" if one stays in say a South 2 vs a North 2, home.

 4. For a landed property, drainage out of the property and drains or canals flowing beside, behind the home has serious consequences, also.

My personal gua no. is 6 and based on the 8M, the south direction is my "DEATH" direction. If due to space constraint, i cannot move my bed away from this direction, how should i reduce the effect of this? Understanding the south belongs to the FIRE element, does UNFLAVOURABLE direction is just an indication that my chi in that direction is blocked and need to enhance the respective element i.e. adding more fire /wood? Or i need to introduce counter element i.e. water to reduce the impact?

I'm very new to FS and really hope to learn from all the learned forum'ers here.

The concept that I'm currently trying to learn is the 8M theory. And i have some problems trying to decide which facing direction(FD) should be the FD for my house. My main door is facing NW and my living room is in the SE. One of the walls of my living room is a picture window (facing SE)that extends from the floor to almost the ceiling. Based on what i have learned, the FD for my house may not be that of my main door especially I'm living on the 13th floor. From some sources, the FD for the house should be the one that receives lots of sunshine and activity, and where there is an open space in front. Is this theory true? My concern is that with these two choices i can derive two house gua that have two different impacts on my house sectors. Please advice.

Another question is that my picture window is facing a cross junction and from i learn, by living high, the impact from the "sha chi" is reduced. is this true?

My brother bought a house built during period 7.  When the master fengshui did the consultation at my brother's house he automatically applied period 8 to do his calculations.  I find this method very strange.  When I asked, he told me he can apply 8 and work it backwards.  I don't know what he means and he refused to elaborate.  Is this method legitimate?  Please help...

In eight mansion, is it the facing direction of the main door or location sector of main door that is important? My original main door is located at SE sector which is good for kua 4 and facing E direction. I was asked to relocate to the other side which is NE sector (bad for me) but the door still faces E. The reason for relocation is because in flying star the orignal door is at W2M5.

Is it wise to relocate?

I am married with 2 young children and am looking to buy a resale flat and now there is one available but the previous owner is selling it because they are going through a divorce.

As the owners are going through a divorce which is considered 'bad luck', I was wondering whether I should go ahead with the purchase.

Going through the checklists for house suitability found in the web, the main door of the flat faces west which is a good facing for myself and my husband.

Practically, as this is near my parents' place it suits my needs.

My partner and I both belong to the fire element, with kua no. 4 and with SE being our best direction (under Eight Houses).

Our new home's door faces NW, which is the diaster sector for both of us.  However, after reading alot from the website and the internet, I know that main door does not always represent the facing.  On one side of our home, there's the main door, kitchen and yard whereas on the opposite side, there's the balcony and windows of master bedroom and another bedroom.  It seems to me that the balcony side is more the facing of the house then the main door side.  If it is truely so, then the facing is SE, which is our best Eight House direction.  However, it is confusing as I've read somewhere in this website balcony is used as facing only if the unit is high-floor.  Mine is on the 3rd floor, so can the balcony still be the facing?  General feeling I get about Feng Shui is that there're no fixed answers and depends on more than 1 factor.  Considering the layout of the house, kitchen and yard makes the main door side more like the sitting of the house?  Whereas the balcony, with the row of windows for 2 bedrooms, bringing in more light represents the facing?

The Flying Star report asks for main door direction.  So do I put NW or SE?  Or does Flying Star require main door direction only, not house facing.

Eight House and Flying Star complement each other right?  One tells you the good and bad sectors whereas the other goes into more details on how more can be done in each sector to improve the Feng Shui.

Assuming our house (facing = balcony side) is in the good sector (SE) of our Eight Houses, will Flying Star raise negative points or does it only help enhance the Feng Shui of the house?

My other question is magnetic north and geographic north.  I've read that Feng Shui uses the former and the deviation between the 2 is ard 15 degrees.  Is magnetic north 15 degrees clock-wise or 15 degrees anti-clock-wise from geographic north?  Most floor plans and architectural drawings show the geographic north and for Feng Shui purposes, we'll need to "shift" the compass to reflect the magnetic north.

as per my husbands eighth house report (20/08/1971), we have learnt that our front door & bedroom directions are the spook & disaster areas.  What are the remedies for this ? we have suffered money crises & law suits since moving here in 2001 

please advice any possible remedies.

Hello, I just recently purchased a home. I did an eight house analysis on myself. It turns out that, even though the entrance more or less faces an ideal cardinal point, my bedroom is right in between the death and disaster zones. Hello! My Grand daughter's birth date is 15 7 1994. She is in a S.E room, at the moment she is having difficulty sleeping on her own. She is facing the door feet facing the door which is not good but can't change the bed position, there is a  chester drawer between her bed and the door.Will appreciate any help you could give me.

  Hi!  I just bought a home with a U Shape.  I realized that a U shape layout is not the best layout however, the missing corner is in the back of the house.  One thing that I really like is that there are three rooms leading out to this empty space which I plan to use as a patio setting to entertain guest.  The missing corner is in the North.

All the books that I have read advises that the missing corner in the U shape layout is extremely bad luck.  And since this is in the North I am afraid that my career might suffer.  However the examples that these books give is always showing the missing corner as the front part of the property.  My question is does it matter where the missing corner is in a U shape layout? (front or back of the property?)

Your advises would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to receiving your response.

We have already put up posting rules that information against posting us with date and time of birth, as it is like asking us to do a full review for you. In such cases, this belongs more to a can or cannot buy type of advise, rather than free advise.

We are looking for a flat which is having main entrance with a  small lobby in the south-west quadrant of the flat. The living room is in the south-west direction with kitchen in the south-east, bedrooms in east, north-east and north-west directions. The toilets are in east, north and west directions. My kua no. is 4 (DOB : 6th June, 1969, 8:43 pm).  My wife's DOB is : 4th September, 1971. about 6 to 7 pm. Sketch of flat is attached. Kindly advise whether this flat is suitable to me.

I have lived in my home for 8 years.  I have recently become interested in feng shui due to a need to fix a few personal situations (health, finances, etc.)  My initial investigation has revealed that I am a "north" person.  My home faces west, which seems really bad.  I really love the home, but I wonder if some of my issues are related to this incompatibility.  Can it be enhanced in any way or do I really have do a major remodel or move?Would a professional consultant even be able to help me?

My house main door is in   South West 1.  House is sitting North East and Facing South West.  (My Main door is just in the middle of the frontage of my house.

I would like to find out which room is the best for me to use as my study/home office.  My choice is whether room situated in the south or North west of my house..  My master bed room is at North and the kitchen is in East.

I am purchasing a conversion condo (an apartment in a building that was built in 1974) but that are doing a full renovation inside (wall painting, new appliances, new kitchen and bathroom furniture, new floor) the apartments to be sold as a condo. Should I take 1974 as house age or should I start from the date of the renovation (2005-2006)? The condo (it's a two stories (2nd-3rd floor) apartment) main door faces East (90 degrees), but from the center of the apartment the door is facing South East (115 degress). It also has a small balcony facing North (or North East (from the center). Which one should I considered as the main facing direction?

We found an apartment with main door facing -South West which is our "Prosperity" facing. However ALL the bedrooms are in South East direction, which is our "Dealth" facing according to Eight House Theory.

Should we only focus on main door or the rooms direction is equally important when selecting the house?

If we buy the house with " Dealth " bed room facing, are we able to rectify later?

ive been reading every feng shui book i can get my hands on. the more i read the more confused i get.

my trailor is 14feet x 80feet and the front door faces south. this should be so easy according to what ive read. where do i place the ocotgon? at the front door, or in the middle of the house? when i get ready to do a certain room, where do i place it? at the door facing into the room or in the middle of the room? my kitchen table is getting scary.;))) i thought my sw corner was romance corner, then i read that ne is romance corner.. help sure would be appreciated, then i can get into all the topics with all of you. this is a great site, wish i had found it sooner.

My kua is number 3, meaning I belongs to the East group people. My house have the main door facing the SE. One book on 8 houses theory stated that the house kua will be determined by the main door facing, i.e. in this case this house belongs to East group house. So I am suitatble to the house

But at the same time, another book stated that the sitting of the house will determine the kua of the house, i.e. NW and therefore the house belongs to the West Group house. So I am not suitatble to the house

Would you advise which one is correct and why

I am west person and my my home door is in west. When i enter into house then i am facing east ( death line is in east). I read that entrance and death line should follow in same direction not opposite? Can this mean that my home door is in wrong place? Where would be good location for a door?

You determine the kind of house on the basis of the facing direction. However, many other authors determine the house trigram on the basis of where the house sits.  

For example my house faces the North (0 degrees), but because it sits South (180 degrees) according to those authors it would be a Li (fire) house and not a water house.

Hello forum, I've been surfing this forum this morning and would like to seek some answer regarding a house number. We have a choice on two houses.... Address Address 1194 XXXX Ct. VS 1185 XXXXX Ct. Mn Door facing E Mn Door facing W My dob is May 1974 and my wife is on November 1974. From the eight house theory, the good house for both of us is the one the rigth, 1185 number but the house we like is the 1194 number. If the 1194 house is picked, how can we change the bad luck to good luck. Please advise. Thank you so much. I AM CONFUSED. I am happy and puzzled about my new house. My Gua 8 for an 8 cycle house facing NE (first Mountain). The front door faces NE and is also in the NE palace. The T Star for NE is 2 with M2 and W8. The house by sitting and direction is superb, it has W8 at the entrance and M8 in the sitting sector. But how do I deal with the Star group affecting my entrance? How can I weaken the harmful chi from 2 without weakening W8?. Or the presiding 8 Star is strong enough?.

You have indicated that when locating property, Flying Star reading preceed 8 Mansion.My husband is interested to purchase a double storey terrace house and has found one has it frontage facing between north to north east My husband kua is 4 and mine 2. I have some questions regarding Period 8 Flying Star implication on this decision as my kua is direct opposite of him. What will happen if we need to place the main door along this sector? 

I have read from some books that in Period 8 all house facing NE and SW are able to overcome all difficulties due to sum of ten effect. What does this mean? These house can overide all bad flying star sector?

Can you also help to clarify on the annual number for Period 8. Do these numbers remain unchanged for the next 20 years until 2024? My question regarding this element is whether we should generally avoid houses that has direction facing #2,3 & 7 in general for the next 20 years?

I understand that kitchen is best located in the 4 bad direction of the patriach's kua number. However since we have a link house and the kitchen is in one of his best direction i.e Fu Wei. My question is how can we practice feng shui in such situation? Is the placement of stove or oven need to be in the 4 bad directions too?

want to learn what must do for my wealth area, for 6 years do everything, what must, but i am not successful. I am living in the apartment, my whealt area is near the toilet, and also between toilet and the main door, this place is the most darkest place in my house. And also it seems like the mostly part is outside the home to the apartment stairs. I painted this place dark green, put a mirror and an artificul big plant and also did put wooden fishes arond the mirror but still could not get an answer, what must do more, maybe put some light but does electricity give an negative energy to this area, thanks

I wish to know what is the better method, 9 square format or pie chart format for someones floorplan? I ask that because if someone have rectangular apartment or room, there is much differences in thise two metods. You know, one corner is too big, and the other is to small...
I realise that 9 square format is easier, but is it rightly?
